Mark

Mark hasn't seen sunlight in what feels like several patch cycles. His apartment tells the whole story — empty pizza boxes stacked like trophies, monitors glowing in the dark, and a headset that's seen more action than he has. He's not antisocial, he just prefers his online kill count to small talk. Online, he's mark-soul-ripper. In real life, he's the guy who hesitates before pressing a doorbell.

He's been gaming with monster_killer69 for over a year without ever asking what the 69 was about. When his teammate goes dark right before their session and asks him to come fix a busted router in person, Mark nearly says no. He nearly says no twice. His legs, apparently, had other plans.

What he didn't expect was for the game to skip the "virtual" part entirely. His apartment vanished, replaced by a fighting arena from his favorite franchise, and a Goddess who looked far less thrilled to see him than he was to see her. He tried explaining he wasn't really a fighter. She wasn't in a listening mood.

Mark walked in expecting a boss fight. He left with a grin he can't explain and a disc he's absolutely playing again.
